Preparation with cricut transfer tape.
Is the cricut vinyl shiny side down.
Cut on iron on vinyl setting.
Refer to kiss cut guide below to adjust machine settings.
You want to cut through the vinyl but not through the carrier sheet.
Select images and size and load the mat into the machine.
Use a craft stick or scraper found in the cricut tool kit to burnish rub or polish the tape onto the vinyl.
The cricut cutting mats are really similar and i have used cricut mats with my silhouette.
Gently place the transfer tape adhesive side down over the images.
Place vinyl liner side down onto cricut standardgrip mat.
If your vinyl came on a roll you can cut off a piece to fit on your mat.
To prevent bubbles start in the center and move out toward the edges.
Put the iron on vinyl shiny side down on the mat so you re cutting the back of the vinyl and not the carrier sheet.
Remove the negative pieces from each of the images leaving the clear.
It makes it really easy.
Mirror the image in the design program before cutting otherwise when you flip the vinyl the cut will be backwards.
Perform test cuts to get your settings correct and remember to reverse your image on your computer before cutting htv.
Press flashing go button.
So again that s shiny side down.
Cutting vinyl with a cricut machine.
The shiny side goes down when your cutting.
Then position it plastic side down and vinyl side up the more dull less shiny side.
Also it is why you put the shiny side down when you cut cricut iron on vinyl.
Here is another example shinny carrier side hard to pick through the vinyl side.
Whatever mat and machine you are using put your adhesive vinyl paper backing side down onto your mat so the colored vinyl side is facing up see image below.
There is a layer of plastic that will be peeled away.
The iron on vinyl is put onto the roll carrier side out which means the side that curls down is the carrier side and the side that curls up is the vinyl side in the end if you re faced with two shiny sides the same color the slightly less shiny side is going to be the vinyl side.
There is no transfer tape required with cricut iron on vinyl because it is already hooked onto the vinyl.
