Rubber and latex are not the same but many people use the words as if they both referred only to natural rubber which is the material derived from the milky white sap of rubber trees. Plastic is a material which can be moulded into different shapes due to their malleable nature and are hard and water resistant.

Rubber is an elastic material that is either obtained from rubber plants or synthesized using petroleum oil. Plastic cannot be deformed once it is hardened and molded into a shape while rubber can easily be molded in different shapes even once the shape is formed.
