Tape a large piece of plastic over the concrete floor securing all edges with duct tape. Although vinyl flooring is flexible it will separate if you install it over an uneven surface so if the concrete has high spots you need to grind them down and if it has low spots or cracks you need to fill them with concrete patching compound.

Vinyl flooring is very durable and fits over most surfaces including concrete. The strength of the product is similar to concrete. Use a tape measure to establish the exact area and add an allowance of 5 square feet for any emergency during the flooring.
