Tip the toilet on its side and install a new wax ring seal in the drain hole then carefully set the toilet onto the drain hole making sure the flange bolts come through the holes on the sides of the toilet.
Installing toilet flange uneven floor.
A toilet flange connects the bottom of the toilet to the drainpipe in the floor of the bathroom.
Remove the old wax ring scraping wax from the toilet base and floor drain with a putty knife.
There are two options this step.
When a toilet is leaking from the base you may need to replace your toilet flange.
Most extenders come with long bolts which may be necessary if the flange is below the floor level.
Rest the toilet bowl on its side place it on a towel or cloth to protect the floor and attach the replacement wax ring to the bottom of the bowl this technique helps ensure the ring is in the proper position when placing the toilet over the flange.
Next install a new wax ring.
Flange extenders are commonly sold in 1 4 inch and 1 2 inch sizes to raise the height of the existing flange 1 4 or 1 2 inch.
If using a plastic flange ring be careful not to crack the ring by screwing the anchors in too far.
However even a small tilt of the toilet on an uneven floor can cause problems.
Pull up on the toilet and turn it so you can see the drain hole underneath the base.
Screw the toilet flange onto the concrete.
Use tapcon anchors or a similar type of masonry concrete screws to fasten the toilet flange to the concrete slab.
With the toilet flange in place you are ready to install the toilet with a new wax ring.
