Installing a mitered corner on a countertop.
Installing laminate countertops corner.
This project guide provides step by step instructions for installing a post form laminate countertop.
There are a couple of different methods used to install laminate countertops.
If your countertop turns a corner it probably has two pieces each with a 45 degree angle or miter cut.
Center it and trace the outline.
If your sink or range top did not come with a template set the item upside down on top of the new countertop.
The point where two counters meet in a corner must be square.
When you measure for your countertop be sure to include the counter overhang which is usually between 3 4 1 inch in front and on open ends.
Place the two sections of countertop on top of the sawhorses so the laminate side is facing up and the corners are together.
These cuts meet to form the 90 degree corner.
Cut the tops to length and apply glue to the laminate ends.
Check that the fronts and backs of each piece align with each other.
You can get your cabinets prefabricated and screw them in or you can laminate wood countertops yourself.
If you need to make a cut out for the sink and range top use the old laminate countertop as a guide.
Attaching laminate yourself can be a little risky but you ll save yourself a nice chunk of money if you go this route.
